Michael is the pre-incarnate name for Christ
(in other words--the name He had in heaven before His birth on earth).--It appears that Lucifer had it out for Christ (Michael) of the Godhead (Trinity).
--More than his hatred for God (the Father) or God (the Holy Spirit) Lucifer seems to have had a personal animosity toward Michael (Christ) the most.
Let's review the texts referring to "Michael".......
1) But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me;
Daniel 10:13
Here the Prince of Persia would be Lucifer (Persia would be here a symbol for the world).

1) But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me;
Daniel 10:13
Here the Prince of Persia would be Lucifer (Persia would be here a symbol for the world).
And Michael, one of the "chief princes" would logically be, in heaven, one of the Godhead / trinity.
In this case, Christ.
2) And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Daniel 12:1
Q: During the judgment, who stands for the people of God?
A: Christ is our High Priest. hence, Michael is Christ.
In this case, Christ.

Daniel 12:1

A: Christ is our High Priest. hence, Michael is Christ.
3) Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
Jude 1:9
Here we see Lucifer contending for the body of Moses during a special resurrection for him. Michael, the archangel isn't an angel. Archangel is a title for a role. For example, the voice of the archangel, Paul tells us, raises the dead at the resurrection.
Q: Would that be just an angel or the voice of Christ?
A: It is the voice of Christ.
4) And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought
against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,....
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:7,9
It was Michael, (Christ), whom the dragon fought with in heaven. And Christ, not an angel, would have the power & authority to cast out Lucifer & his followers.

SUMMARY:
It seems that Lucifer picked a personal fight with Christ. And remember, it was Christ of the Godhead / Trinity who was the one who came down in human form to take Lucifer on.
There must have been something about Christ that Lucifer was really jealous of.
P.S. --- "archangel" just means head of the angels. In other words, He is the one Lucifer, while leader of the angelic host, reported to within the Triune Godhead.

And YES---it was VERY PERSONAL:
.... it shall bruise thy head,
and thou shalt bruise his heel.
And the God of peace will crush Satan.....
Genesis 3:15/Romans 16:20
